Dental Fillings at Jurupa Springs Family Dentistry

One of the most frequent dental conditions is decay. If during a routine teeth cleaning and about-img3checkup our experts identify teeth that appear to be compromised by decay, we can identify the level of decay through gentle probing and/or x-ray. Should the probing or x-rays reveal a filling is needed, our dental staff will discuss with you the type of filling that will work best given the location of the decay, aesthetic considerations, your bite, and any past medical history.

Our Dental Fillings Procedure

Our dentists will first ensure that the compromised tooth and the surrounding teeth are clean. We will then remove the tooth decay with either a simple hand tool or a small laser. Once the decay is removed and the tooth cavity is cleaned, we then fill the cavity with composite filling material.

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a tooth-colored filling that blends in nicely with the rest of your teeth. It is made of a flexible resin or plastic that is formed to the shape of patient’s tooth. Once in place, a UV light is used to harden the composite material, ensuring it bonds fully to your tooth.

In additional to repairing cavities, composite bonding is also used to repair chipped, fractured, or discolored teeth. Composite bonding is a minimally invasive procedure, and can be complete in one office visit.
